Why were Cambridge Chronicles at Glastonbury Festival?
When Neon Moon invited Cambridge Chronicles to Glastonbury Festival, it was an opportunity the studio had been craving. But this was more than a creative project. It was Dom, our advertising studio director’s photographing the world’s most eclectic, legendary and arguably, the greatest festival on the planet. We wanted to know more. We sat down with Dom to speak about what the project meant to the studio and the impact Glastonbury had on him. We were invited to document what happened at Glastonbury’s Theatre and Circus tent. We sent someone who has never been to a festival before. We wanted to make sure it was an experience for someone. As a studio, we really enjoy documenting festivals and capturing the best moments and then editing them in a way other people can feel. This is what we did with the Theatre and Circus tent. We documented the tent and the vibe around the whole festival. It was amazing to see so many artists and musicians, but for me, it was all about the people that were there. They made Glastonbury.
We wanted to know more.
How does capturing the raw, creative energy of Glastonbury align with Cambridge Chronicles’ mission? This is exactly what we do—raw, creative energy. We are the Glastonbury of advertising. We do things well. We attend the coolest places and make them look cooler. This is why Glastonbury was so revolutionary for the studio as it is exactly what we strive for. It’s exactly what we promote, who we want to work with, and the events we want to capture through photography and videography. It inspired us to produce more than we did. Inspired us to seek for the best festivals, and we want don’t want it to stop. What was something unexpected you witnessed that didn’t make the final edit but stayed with you? We were filming Coldplay when Tom Cruise walks past. So, you had Coldplay rocking the Pyramid stage, we turn the camera left and there, out of nowhere, is Tom Cruise. Totally unexpected, but then we got used to the unexpected. It was one of the many surreal moments at Glastonbury—full of surprises, crazy people, music, and dancing.
What drew you specifically to the Theatre & Circus tent? Was there a moment where you felt ‘this is why I’m here?’
4) If you could distil the spirit of what you captured into a word or phrase, what would it be, and why? Glastonbury summed up to me: life changing. I’ve never been to a music festival and to have my first experience at Glastonbury was truly life changing. Not just for me, but for the studio. It was the first music festival to be commissioned by the studio. The overall experience opened our eyes to another world, and we loved it! The whole experience was truly life changing and life affirming. What’s next for Cambridge Chronicles? We are just getting started. Fuelled by nostalgia, driven by creativity—we want to be the Glastonbury of advertising. We create campaigns that are bold, brave, and daring; pushing the boundaries that leave long lasting impressions. We create the belief that anything is possible. That’s the energy we bring to every project. Because advertising shouldn’t just sell—it should inspire.
We see what you don't
